Les marais sont des lieux très particuliers à photographier. Avant d’y commencer une séance de prise de vues, il m’est toujours difficile de prévoir si je saurais en apprécier toute la mélancolie. Visuellement, on peut pourtant y trouver quantité d’éléments intéressants. Mais ce sont des lieux qui ont un atmosphère si particulière, avec des odeurs entêtantes, la vase, les végétaux en décomposition dans les eaux stagnantes. Et souvent, les insectes y sont très présents ! Pour cette photographie, j’ai aimé les formes des branches, leur reflet pour ce rendu si graphique de l’image en noir et blanc.

Marshes are very special places to photograph. Before I start shooting there, it’s always hard to predict whether I’ll be able to appreciate all the melancholy. Visually, though, there are many interesting elements. These places have such a special atmosphere, with their heady smells, the silt, the decomposing vegetation in the stagnant water. And insects are often very present! For this picture, I liked the shapes of the branches and their reflections. The image has such a graphic quality in black and white.
